2010 Camp Kee Tov

Campership Information and Instructions

At Camp Kee Tov we are committed to providing a ruach-filled summer camp experience for all campers regardless of their family’s financial situation.  There are currently two organizations that provide camperships for campers attending Camp Kee Tov; they are the Jewish Community Foundation, serving the Greater East Bay and Congregation Beth El.  Camperships can be obtained from both sources so we ask that you apply to both organizations.  Campership funds are limited, so please apply early.

Jewish Community Foundation:

Financial aid is available from the Bernard Hurwitz and Ethel Adler Hurwitz Summer Camperships Fund of the Jewish Community Foundation, serving the Greater East Bay.  Families residing in Alameda, Contra Costa, Napa or Solano counties are eligible to apply.  Applications are available online at www.campkeetov.org or from the Camp Kee Tov office.  Please submit completed applications to the Camp Kee Tov office.

In order to qualify to receive a campership from the Jewish Community Foundation you will first need to be awarded a campership from Congregation Beth El.  You do not need to fill out a separate campership application as Beth El will use the information provided in the Foundation’s application form.

The Beth El Campership Committee will meet at the end of March to distribute campership awards.  Camperships are awarded on the basis of need.  A lay led committee makes the award decisions and the process is entirely anonymous.  Families will be notified at the beginning of April regarding the amount of financial assistance available from Beth El.  Additionally, Beth El will complete line 2d on form 4 of the JCF application requesting the amount of funding provided by the synagogue before submitting your application to the Jewish Community Foundation.

The Foundation’s Summer Campership Committee will meet at the end of April to award camp scholarships which will be issued directly to Camp Kee Tov in early May.

Additional Sources of Campership Funds:

If you are a current member of a faith-based organization other than Congregation Beth El please contact them to find out if they provide camperships for summer day camps.

Deadlines:

Please submit your campership applications for the Jewish Community Foundation and Congregation Beth El directly to the Camp Kee Tov office no later than 5:00 pm Wednesday, April 21, 2010.  We cannot guarantee that financial aid will be available for requests submitted later than April 21, 2010.

If you have questions regarding campership applications please contact Stephanie Pollick by email at campkeetov@bethelberkeley.org or by phone at (510) 848-2372.
