Exploration Camps

April 27th, 2010

Camp Kee Tov’s two-week Exploration Camps appeal to campers, in grades 4-8, who thrive in smaller groups and enjoy focused areas of activity. The ruach of Camp Kee Tov blends with a specialized program to create a unique summer experience!

Please note: There are a limited number of spaces available for each Exploration Camp. Beth El Members are guaranteed admission until all spaces fill.

Food, Conservation & Ecology Exploration Camp

August 16 – August 27 (two weeks).

Congregation Beth El, the home of Camp Kee Tov, is located in the heart of the Gourmet ghetto, a Berkeley neighborhood world famous for fabulous food, high-quality ingredients, and a focus on sustainable agriculture. In this two-week session, campers will apply the principles of Bal Tashit and Kashrut to learn about the relationship between the foods they eat and the environmental.

Program activities include:

  • cooking delicious meals with healthy, organic, locally-grown ingredients;
  • interactively studying the fundamentals of precious resources, such as soil, water, animals, and plants;
  • taking field trips to local restaurants, markets, cooperative organic farms, artisan bakeries and cheesemakers,
  • witnessing the evolution of food and other consumables from raw materials to retail products.

The session culminates in a gourmet dinner prepared by the campers for parents and friends.

Registration Fees Per Session

Sessions are two weeks and open to campers in grades 4-8 only.

You may select either or both “sessions” of Exploration Camps, or an Exploration Camp in one session with regular camp in the other session.
